Anger Management Treatment for Men

Anger Management Therapy

Anger management treatment for men teaches individuals how to process anger in appropriate, healthy ways. Uncontrolled anger can impact relationships at work, home, and in social situations, negatively impact health, and even cause depression, violence, or thoughts of suicide.

At Freeman Recovery Center, we use anger management treatment for men to equip visitors with effective management strategies.

Anger is a natural, even healthy emotion, but uncontrolled and inappropriate rage results in loss of rationality and reason. This can lead to erratic behavior, abuse, addictions, and violence which not only impacts an individual’s wellbeing, but that of those around the individual.

There are many healthy ways of learning to manage the intensity of anger. Effective treatment examines the physical, mental, emotional, and behavioral elements of an individual’s uncontrolled anger or rage. Therapies include:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Improvement of communication skills
  • Problem-solving therapies

CBT is among the most common forms of psychotherapy. When used for anger management, CBT teaches individuals to recognize the negative thoughts behind their rage. CBT can teach a person to:

  • Positively resolve conflicts
  • Handle emotional stress due to abuse, illness, or physical trauma
  • Cope effectively with difficult situations
  • Recognize and deal with personal triggers

The sources of anger and rage differ from individual to individual. Effective anger management treatment involves understanding the unique elements of a visitor’s condition. Our caring experts work together to develop a tailored treatment plan that addresses physical, mental, emotional, and behavioral aspects of the condition in order to equip individuals with the tools they need to effectively manage rage. With these tools, visitors learn how to take back control of their emotions and their lives.
